Saturn in 8th House

Saturn in 8th house astrology model

The eighth house asks us to enlarge or sacrifice our ego boundaries in order to enter into relationship or union with another or others. To do so, some aspect of our personality or ego must die. Usually it is some thing, not some one, that dies, and with the passing away of that limiting aspect of our personality we experience a releasing freedom.

Herein is the second aspect of this house: resurrection and rebirth. The eighth house rules personal evolution, growth, transformation and change, death, rebirth, sex, possessions of a relationship, legacies, inheritance, taxes, rituals, initiations and the occult, the astral body and reincarnation, and the severing of ties to that to which we are attached. A planet in the eighth indicates that a personal facet of your psyche is under pressure to work more cooperatively or jointly with others. Many planets here signify a person whose life can be characterized by change. Such individuals may find continuous states of affairs monotonous, and periodically bring about changes or crises to feel truly alive.

Saturn is the tester, and the test with Saturn in your eighth house is one of letting go. In sex there's a general lack of balance (too much or too little), and often the need to control or manipulate the partner out of the fear of surrendering. In my opinion and experience the source of this fear is a childhood (or perhaps past life) trauma experienced at a time when you were surrendered in the moment. This can be addressed by emotional therapies which help you become more conscious of the earlier trauma so that it is illuminated and capable of being more fully integrated, and/or somatic therapies that release the locked-in bodily energy thereby releasing you into the present.

You are quite good at using what you have to its full advantage, but may take advantage of other's resources as well, but if so the source again is fear of earlier trauma. There are often money problems in both business and personal relationships with this placement. Other things being equal, Saturn in the eighth house is an indicator of a long life.
