Uranus in Gemini

  Uranus was in Gemini only eight years since the time of the Civil War, from May 1942 through June 1949.  When Uranus entered Gemini the G.I. bill altered the emphasis on education in the U.S.  Thousands now went on to college when before a high school education had been enough.  Since it is the higher octave of the ruler of Gemini, it increases your ability to intuit and grasp new concepts quickly.  This Sign placement is good in occupations that deal with ideas, teaching, writing, communication, computers, and electromagnetic waves in general (radio, TV, radar).  You tend to be restless, and may move a lot.  If Mercury is in hard or quincunx aspect to Uranus there will be trouble with relatives.  You may find yourself relaxing in telephone conversations, puzzles, and in making connections.  Uranus returns to each Sign once every 84 years.

Since Uranus stays about seven years in each Sign, its effect in Gemini is collective and global, rather than individual.  Every planet, however, including Neptune, is in a different house every two hours due to the earth’s daily rotation on its axis.  Therefore Uranus' position by house (see “The Houses” section) is very individual.

Uranus trine Neptune

Strength = 100/100,  orb = 0.02°/7.5°

  Only highly evolved individuals will be able to respond personally to this highest of vibrations between the outer planets. Such souls are partially identified by their having Uranus or Neptune in an angular house (especially the first or tenth), in major aspect to the Sun, Moon or Mercury, and usually in close orb. Otherwise you will respond with the masses to this aspect as a general stimulus to humanity's evolution.

If you are such a rare individual, you have the capacity to raise your consciousness to a new and higher level in this lifetime, to let go of more of what is personal so as to be able to empathize with and represent mankind more universally. You have occult and spiritual talent and the capacity to be a seer. Your experience and vision of the unity that ties this world together can transport yourself and others beyond the mundane and into extraordinary regions. You have profound insight into what unites all people, and into dreams and the mystical regions of the mind. Occurring every 60 (waxing trine) or 120 years (waning trine), Uranus was last trine Neptune during most of World War II: April 1939 to May 1943, as well as the two summers preceding and the two winters following that interval.

Neptune in Libra

Neptune was in Libra for everyone on Earth from October 1942 through October 1956, the only time in the last 200 years. As Libra is "The iron fist in the velvet glove," on the international scene we saw World War II: the dissolving of peace between nations.  Individually, if Neptune is afflicted in the birth chart, this placement brings karmic lessons in partnerships for souls incarnating during this period.  Relationships are an ideal for you, but there needs to be sacrifice, compromise, and an inner change in consciousness where they're concerned. Only by changing your inner attitudes will you bring about changes in the outer physical world of matter and others. New art forms came into being during this cycle, as well as the awareness of treating others without discrimination and as equals.

The three outermost planets of the solar system—Uranus, Neptune and Pluto—take 84, 165, and 248 years respectively to circle the Sun: that's how long their "year" is. They therefore stay 7, 14 and 21 years respectively in a sign, although Pluto's orbit is so elliptical that it resides from 12 years (Scorpio) to 32 years (Taurus) in a sign. Neptune's effect by sign position is therefore collective, global, or generational, rather than personal. The majority of individuals in a particular generation have Neptune in the same sign, and it therefore effects and characterizes the psyches of entire generations. Each of the outer planets, however, including Neptune, is in a different house every two hours due to the earth’s daily rotation on its axis. Therefore Neptune's position by house (see "The Houses" section in You and the Universe) is very individual.

Pluto in Leo

Pluto takes 248 years to circle the Sun; that's how long its "year" is. Pluto therefore stays on average 21 years in a sign, although its orbit is so elliptical that it can reside from 12 years (Scorpio) to 32 years (Taurus) in one sign. Pluto's effect by sign position is therefore collective, global, or generational, rather than personal. Everyone in a particular generation has Pluto in the same sign, and it therefore effects and characterizes the psyches of entire generations. Each of the outer planets, however, including Pluto, is in a different house every two hours due to the earth’s daily rotation on its axis. Therefore Pluto's position by house (see Pluto in "The Houses" section) is very individual.

Pluto was in Leo from 1939 to 1956 (and January to August 1957 as well), the first time since 1700. During this 17-year period there arose (perhaps for the first time in the general population) the consciousness of and the will to create and direct one's own play or destiny. Individuals born during these years are learning how to actualize themselves, to find and identify the creative principle within them, to be self-expressive. You feel that you have a special destiny to fulfill, and need to be recognized and treated as special and unique. In some this can appear to be a seemingly unfillable need for attention and love. Many individuals with this placement are sensitive and vulnerable when it comes to expressing themselves, and tend to utilize periods of intense creativity to go through changes and inner growth. This generation is generally marked by the intense will, dramatic self-expression, power and pride symbolized by Pluto in Leo.
